Birkenhead shoppers raise hundreds for One Great Day at Pyramids

Visitors to Pyramids Shopping Centre have raised a fantastic £831.86 for a local and national children’s charity following the UK-wide event, ‘One Great Day’ which 200 shopping centres have taken part in.

One Great Day is a series of family and community charity events being held throughout the month of June to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, and other local children’s health charities. Participating shopping centres have been providing a special event or family fun day for local communities across the UK, whilst raising money for a number of great causes.

The fun-packed day at Pyramids included a tombola with prizes donated by the Perfume Shop, River Island, The Entertainer, Mi Wardrobe and The Body Shop. Alongside this were games to play and a selection of special guests such as Viking Lion, Little Bo Peep and Roy the Camel to meet.

The funds kindly donated by Birkenhead shoppers will be shared between Claire House Children’s Hospice – which offers young children with serious and terminal illnesses the opportunity to have unforgettable experiences, as well as providing emotional support to families – and Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

Derek Millar, commercial director at Pyramids Shopping Centre, commented: “One Great Day has been a fantastic event which brought our community together while helping children that really need support.

“Hosting an event like this has been a really fun way to give something back to assist the wonderful work of Claire House and Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, which supports patients and families from across the UK.

“We are so grateful to everyone who helped make the day a huge success including our brilliant team here at Pyramids. The generous contributions people have made for these worthy causes will directly help children in our local community, as well as further afield.”

One Great Day was established in 2014 and has so far raised over £500,000 for 113 different children’s charities along with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. One Great Day now covers over 70 million square feet of retail space across the United Kingdom, from Folkestone to Aberdeen and nearly everywhere in-between!
